 Who we are looking for: We are looking for a passionate Christ -follower; someone who can encourage and equip our Middle and High School kids to grow in their commitment to Jesus Christ and to live out their faith every day. Position requires approx. 20 hours/week and pays $17-20K, depending on experience and education.

Middle School and High School Youth Director Job Description:

  • Reach out to Middle School and High School kids whose families are members of our congregation as well as to kids in the community.
  • Equip these kids to live out their faith; to become deep, spiritually passionate followers of Jesus Christ.
  • Organize and lead weekly youth group meetings.
  • Listen to, mentor and encourage teens (one-on-one) in being a disciple of Jesus. This would include building intentional relationships by meeting with these kids outside of regularly scheduled programs.
  • Identify and provide ministry opportunities for teens.
  • Organize and lead occasional social/team-building events outside of church such as skiing, laser tag, bowling, etc.
  • Recruit and train small group youth leaders. Continue to work with these leaders throughout the year to plan special events for fellowship and outreach.
  • Communicate with teens and parents in the form of calendars, newsletters, e-mail, facebook and website updates.
  • Organize and lead annual Youth Group event/trip (retreat, mission trip, etc.)
  • Help raise funds for the annual event/trip and for other Youth Group events throughout the year.
  • Manage Youth Group budget
  • Regularly attend our church and be involved with the fellowship of our congregation.
  • Incorporate youth into the worship service.
  • The Youth Director will report to the Senior Pastor.

Leadership Attributes and Preferred Experience:

  • Models a passionate, growing relationship with Jesus
  • Mature, having unquestionable character and integrity
  • Has a heart for kids
  • Communicates God’s Word in compelling and relevant ways
  • Ability to recruit and mentor small group leaders
  • Training in relevant field is preferred.
  • Ability to cast a vision for the youth ministry of our church
  • Self-starter who can creatively reach out to the established “church kids” as well as the l kids in our community
  • Experience leading student ministries preferred
  • In agreement with Calvin Church’s beliefs and core values
